Deep Image Compositing in DaVinci Resolve

Deep images store more than just one layer of depth—they contain multiple samples per pixel, which makes them much more powerful than standard Z-depth maps. Starting with Fusion Studio 20 and DaVinci Resolve 20, the deep image compositing tools are now built into Fusion, making it possible to work directly with deep EXR files.

This tutorial introduces the core concepts and tools. You’ll learn how to import and inspect deep EXRs in Fusion, create your own deep image files if you already have depth data, and how Fusion’s classical renderer can be used to export deep images.
