Titles, lower thirds, end credits and more. Fusion is a great tool for those custom effects that you can use in different editing projects.
You don’t always need to create a template from scratch. Often you can start from a Text+ effect or another existing Fusion effect in the Effects library. Then you can enhance the effect with added nodes on the Fusion page.
If you want to share your effect between projects, then pay attention to external media. You can load graphics elements with a loader node. This way you can load media with an absolute file path on your file system. This way, you ensure your effect remains independent of your current Resolve project.
Editing the effect from the Fusion page is simple but not always convenient. Sometimes you have very few parameters that you would like to control from the edit page. In Fusion, you can add custom screen elements to an existing template. With expressions, you can link those screen elements to other parameters in your flow.
Finally, you can share effects from Fusion the same way you can share any other clip in the media bin. If you want to go further, you can use power bins in DaVinci Resolve and share your effects across projects.
