Custom Video Transitions with Resolve & Fusion

Create your own scene transitions from scratch. Here is one of the simplest techniques to improve your DaVinci Resolve edits with Fusion.

Map out a transition in the DaVinci Resolve timeline. You can layer clips on top of each other and use simple fades to see how the timing works out. Once you are happy with the timing, separate the transition parts in the timeline and head over to the Fusion tab.

All you need is an animated mask and a merge node to make your first transition. From then on, it’s all up to your creativity and the options are endless. In this tutorial, I show you a few different ideas and build one transition from scratch.
