To see the minimum system requirements for DaVinci Resolve, go to the Blackmagic Design Support page, scroll to your version of DaVinci Resolve and click “more”.

On the higher end, you can find DaVinci Resolve turnkey solutions built buy Pudget Systems (no affiliation, and not a purchase recommendation!). This may not be what you need or what you can afford, but that company frequently publishes benchmarks with Resolve and you might find it informative how they configure their systems.

Yes and No. I believe midigrade is using mouse and keyboard emulation to simulate the actions you would do with mouse and keybaord and then attach those to shortcuts. I’ve not used midigrade, but I have tried something similar with mouse based scripts with Autohotkey in the past. It works, but it’s likely not as robust as a dedicated control surface.

One problem is that everything is linked to specific locations on the user interface. So if you change the resolution/resize the interface it will need to be adjusted. Also I don’t think you can control multiple parameters at the same time – not sure about that with midigrade, but I there could be some limitation.

From jog-shuttles, I know there’s a huge difference between the Speed Editor and a 3rd party shuttle controler like the contour shuttle that are based on keyboard shortcut emulation. The speed editor simply operates much faster / smoother. I am not sure how smooth the overall experience is with midi grade. Anybody tried it and can comment?
